Mental Health & Substance Use Support for New Yorkers: Resources for Our Community

Living in New York City right now can feel overwhelming. Many of us are carrying stress, uncertainty, grief, financial pressure, isolation, or exhaustion — often all at once. These experiences are not personal shortcomings; they are understandable responses to a world that is asking a great deal of people, especially working families and tenants.
At Savoy Park Tenants Union (SPTU), we believe that access to care is part of community care. That’s why we’ve created a Mental Health Resources page on our website, bringing together trusted, free, and low-cost mental health and substance use supports available to New Yorkers. All of these resources come directly from NYC’s official mental health hub, so you can feel confident that the information is accurate, current, and designed to serve people across the five boroughs.
What Support Is Available?
New York City offers a wide range of mental health and substance use services — including counseling, crisis support, peer support, harm reduction services, and referrals to ongoing care. Many services are available regardless of insurance status or ability to pay, and materials are offered in multiple languages to better meet the needs of our diverse communities.
On the SPTU website, you’ll find:
Direct links to NYC mental health and substance use services
Downloadable guides and palm cards you can keep or share
Information on how to find care that fits your needs and situation
We’ve gathered these resources in one place to make it easier for Savoy Park residents to access support — for themselves, their families, or their neighbors.
Immediate Support: 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline
If you or someone you know needs immediate emotional support, help is available 24/7 through the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline. You can call or text 988, or chat online, to connect with trained listeners who provide confidential support, crisis counseling, and help finding local services. Support is available in more than 200 languages, and you do not need insurance.
Explore NYC’s Mental Health Resource Hub
For the most comprehensive and up-to-date information, we encourage residents to visit mentalhealth.cityofnewyork.us. This is NYC’s central source for mental health and substance use resources, with tools to help you:
Find services by borough or need
Learn about crisis and ongoing support options
Access guides, hotlines, and community-based programs
We’ve linked to many of these resources directly on our site, but the city’s hub is always a good place to explore further.
You Are Not Alone
Reaching out for support is not a weakness — it’s a way of taking care of yourself and your community. SPTU is committed to sharing information, building connection, and making sure tenants know what resources are available to them. Care should be accessible, dignified, and rooted in solidarity.
Visit our Mental Health Resources page to explore what’s available, and share these tools with neighbors who might need them. We’re stronger when we look out for one another.
