December 12, 2024—We are proud to share that the Savoy Park Tenants Union was honored at the Met Council on Housing’s 65th Anniversary Gala, receiving the prestigious Madison Ave Bridge Award in recognition of our steadfast commitment to housing justice.

Rooted in the rich legacy of the Harlem Savoy Ballroom—once a vibrant epicenter of culture and community—Savoy Park remains a home to families who deserve dignity, safety, and peace. Our Tenant Union has taken this history to heart, channeling the same spirit of resilience, rhythm, and resistance in our advocacy.

Whether confronting management’s neglect, mobilizing tenants for rallies like Save the Savoy, or pushing local leaders to act, our mission has always been clear: to stand united for safe, livable homes and a community where everyone is heard and valued. This award recognizes the passion, persistence, and power of every tenant who has shown up, spoken out, and stood strong.

We are deeply grateful to the Met Council for this honor and remain more committed than ever to carrying this fight forward. You can learn more about the gala and the full list of honorees here.

From Harlem, with heart — thank you.
